A three day expert consultative forum was hosted in Abuja from the 19th – 21st of June 2017 by YOUTHHUBAFRICA a pan African youth organization, hosting youth leaders from across Nigeria representing youth led organizations who had hosted youth policy dialogues in their states to discuss, analyze and review the Nigerian National youth Policy passed in 2009 and the 2016 Draft policy. The conference was opened by Veronica Bakam of youthhubafrica, introducing the purpose and a detailed speech was given by the conveyer in the person of Rotimi Olawale , Founder Youthhubafrica on the validity and importance of the forum . The experts convened for 2 days discussion and reviewing data collated from the six geo political zones, representing the ideas and suggestion from their various participants. The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has commenced a review process of the 2009 National Youth Policy to which a draft has been written. RUDEER in partnership with Youthhubafrica served as a volunteer to host Policy Dialogues in our state of operation, Delta – State bringing together Communities to collate youth’s opinions as it reflects their realities. This Policy Dialogues had a wide representation of a 15-20 Youth Leaders in your respective locations and strived to maintain gender balance. Read more
HRM OTADAFERUA, EDWARD IGHO JP, PNM, ERHIEKEVWE 1, OVIE OF IDJERHE KINGDOM being a “Champion for Education” and an avid supporter of educational programs for his people and youth generally hosted an academic session / paper presentation ceremony in order to establish his commitment to education as a tool for community and nation development. An awareness campaign lecture was given by our founder Miss Okoroleju Alero on #The role of education in community development and enjoined the people comprising of the chiefs, elders and representatives of diverse communities on the need to be involved and ensure education of all is attained and made a mandate for all through support of underserved people and disadvantaged communities. The school outreach phase aimed at engaging the children in talks and learning exercises geared towards increasing their interest levels in education and helping realize its importance and role in self development, actualization and relevance to society in the future. The campaign also focused on providing aid and support through distribution of school supplies to support learning activities and encourage the children and parents to continue to strive towards education.
Materials were handed to the children based on need levels as outlined by the school heads and teachers to ensure that children who were in school without the required materials to ensure complete learning benefited from the campaign. Also children who had been sent home due to inability to meet up with school requirements were also aided to ensure their return to school and learning. Read more
On the 1st of October 2016 which marks the independence of Nigeria, we held a WALK in two major cities in Delta-State Nigeria. The purpose of these events was a common goal to create awareness amongst the people on the importance of Education and its roles in community development and nation building and the intricate roles of individuals and stake holders in ensuring education is priority for all.
The campaign WALK held in two peri urban towns surrounded by rural settlements which serve as a central place of commerce for the rural communities. Warri and Sapele towns respectively. Read more
Rural Communities are the direct beneficiaries of the Education Cannot Wait campaign and in the bid to have an inclusive campaign we had an inter phase with local traditional rulers, chiefs and elders in order to ensure they contribute to the educational development of their communities.
We hosted town hall meetings in Irhodo Community and Ajawini Community in Ethiope West Local Government area of Delta- state which were our host communities and we also participated in a townhall meeting in Sapele Local Government, teachers, parents, local government authorities and elders of the communities were present including representatives of the major oil drilling company within the region. The rotaract club , Ekpan branch, in Warri , Delta – State , Nigeria hosted a school outreach program to sensitize secondary school students in Ekpan Secondary School on issues affecting youths in the present day society. The Education Cannot Wait Media Campaign included an all out campaign utilizing social media platforms, television, media, radio and print media to promote the campaign in major towns and villages within the South – South region of Nigeria, specifically Delta state.
Interviews and discussion sessions were held in the Delta state Television and radio station continuously to imprint the campaign in the minds of the people, and also giving them room to phone in on ongoing conversations, and drive collaborations on the campaign. Read more
